1 Year + Some

Brysen has only been one for a few short weeks, but turning one somehow magically turned him into a big boy overnight. This is such a fun and exciting time, but I'm also sad to say goodbye to his baby days.

Here's what he's been up to lately: Brysen is OBSESSED with balls! He received four different basketball goals for his birthday - and we kept every single one. I definitely see some basketball games in his future!  He is also obsessed with balloons. We have one balloon still (barely) hanging on from his birthday party, but I can't bring myself to take it down.

One morning I woke up (feeling mighty refreshed) and realized Brysen didn't wake up at all the night before. Not one single time. I wasn't expecting this to become an every night thing, because he's always woke up for (at least) one middle-of-the-night feeding, but apparently turning one means always sleeping through the night. I don't think he's woke up for a feeding since his birthday. This makes me happy and sad at the same time.

Brysen can now say: mama, dada, beba (Bella), ball, buuud (bird), ba-looooo (balloon),  huuuuuuuh (hello), buh (bye), and even tate-you (thank you) when he feels like it. He will say ball, bird, and balloon as soon as he sees one. Every time. And he says hello whenever there is a phone in his reach. He likes to put the phone up to his ear backwards- I haven't figured that one out yet. He understands quite a bit, too. He knows: look, stop, no, come here, stay there, put it back, wave bye bye, and others that my mommy brain is having a hard time remembering.    :)

He's walking more and more now days, but he prefers to crawl when he's given the option. He is still loving his walker, too! I think he knows he can get places faster without walking independently, and since he's always so busy, he'd rather go with the faster option.

I can't believe how fast this first year has come and gone. The first month or two went by at a pretty steady pace. I remember actually being able to enjoy the weeks between posting his monthly updates. But, after about three months, I felt like we were celebrating a 'monthday' every other day. Now, here we are, saying goodbye to those days. Here's to year number two!

Twelve Months

July 3, 2015
TWELVE MONTHS!
ONE YEAR!!
Weight: 20 pounds
Height: 28 inches

Food: The best way to sum up Brysen's eating habits is to say that he is never full!

Sleep: Sleeping well! Usually only up once to eat during the night.

Clothes: Wearing a lot of 6-12 months. And 12 months, too!

Health: So healthy! And I thank God every night for that. We have made it a full YEAR without any sicknesses. We didn't even have to conquer the slightest diaper rash. I must say- I strongly believe in the power of breast milk! :)

Likes: Staying busy, busy, BUSY! He loves to eat, laugh, talk, copy people (he picks up on everything!), clap, shake his head 'no' and 'yes', play with his (crazy amount of) toys, swing, cuddle, walk with his walker (everywhere!), and just act like a typical one year old boy!

Dislikes: Other than sitting still - nothing at all. He's easy to please.

Changes: Brysen is SO close to walking! He'll take a couple of steps on his own, but then he gets too excited and can't keep his balance. He walks like a pro with his walker though! He keeps us on our toes, but we're loving every minute!

Brysen's First Vacation

Georgia
June 2015
Brysen's First Vacation!

Our first stop was at the Atlanta Zoo. Bryan loved checking out all the animals. And, even though you can't tell in the picture, he really liked the carousel, too! He was so tired by the end of the day that the last ride on the carousel put him right to sleep.

We also spent a day at the Georgia Aquarium. There were so many big, bright things to look at. Brysen loved it!

Legoland was another stop on our trip. Such a neat place.

We checked out plenty of malls, too.

These two little chickens rose before the sun one morning.
We actually had to wait on the breakfast bar to open at the hotel.

Of course a stop at the park is on the agenda when cousin Jayleigh is around.
:)

Brysen loves to hang out with her!

We chose to spend the week in Georgia because Vonte's college roommate was getting married there!

I enjoyed watching these two spend so much time together.
:)

And Brysen enjoyed all of the yummy food!

Headed back home after a fun-filled week.

Eleven Months

June 3, 2015
ELEVEN MONTHS!

Food: Eating like he's never eaten before! Every. Single. Time. We've yet to come across a food he doesn't like.

Sleep: Not fighting sleep as bad this month, but he has started flipping and flopping a million times until he finds that 'just right' position. Most nights we're asleep by 9:30, and he only wakes up once to eat.

Clothes: Still fitting good into some 9 months, but wearing a lot of 6-12 months. And some 12 months, too!

Health: Runny nose some days thanks to those top two teeth that have poked through! But that's it!

Likes: Moving, moving, moving! And he doesn't slow down for NOTHING! He loves to crawl around our downstairs pushing his lawnmower. He also loves to hang out upstairs in his [messy] play room. He enjoys jumping, smiling, babbling, hearing the theme song on his favorite cartoons, eating, cuddling with mama, throwing the ball with daddy, giggling, drinking from a straw, and just being an adventurous little boy!

Dislikes: Sitting still! Boy oh boy!

Changes: Brysen's cute little army crawl didn't stick around for too long. Once he realized how to get those legs working, he was off like a new racecar. He crawls SO fast now! You can't turn your back on him! He seems to like doing all the things that are dangerous - like sneaking off to our stairs or trying to dive head first off our bed or couch. He's such a busy body. I honestly don't know that there's another baby as busy as he is.

Ten Months

TEN MONTHS!

Food: Still loving big people food! Anything and everything! Ice cream and Cheese Puffs are probably his favorites right now. Still only likes fruity baby food.

Sleep: Fighting sleep like crazy! There are so many fun things to do in our house- and sleep is apparently not one of them. Once I finally get him to give in, he sleeps pretty good throughout the night. Still waking for feedings 2-3 times a night.

Clothes: Some 9 months. Some 6-12 months. Some 12 months. A little bit of everything!

Health: Perfect! We've been so lucky.

Likes: Doing things that give mom a mini heart attack. Really. This boy knows NO fear. He loves to jump, bounce, laugh, and hang out outside. He LOVES dogs and will excitedly scream "DA!" whenever he sees one. He is a busy-body and is constantly moving. It doesn't matter what he's doing, his hands and feet are moving 99.9% of the time.

Dislikes: His new rocking/bouncing horse. He hates it! I think this may be the one thing he's scared terrified of. And I don't even know why?

Changes: Brysen started (army) crawling on May 22nd! And he looks so stinking cute doing it! Watching his face light up as he excitedly crawls to me when he sees me after work is the most amazing feeling! He loves exploring the house and getting into things he never noticed before, and I love watching him grow -- even though I wish he'd slow down a little! He also learned to point and move his hand in a "come here" motion when he sees something he wants.

First Easter + First Zoo Trip

We celebrated Brysen's first Easter with family at our house.
The Easter Bunny brought Brysen a personalized bunny, a basket full of goodies,
and a tricycle that grows with him.

A couple of weeks after Easter, we took a trip to the Zoo!
Brysen loved all of the animals. And the park! Oh, and the slushies! :)
