Brysen has only been one for a few short weeks, but turning one somehow magically turned him into a big boy overnight. This is such a fun and exciting time, but I'm also sad to say goodbye to his baby days.
Here's what he's been up to lately: Brysen is OBSESSED with balls! He received four different basketball goals for his birthday - and we kept every single one. I definitely see some basketball games in his future! He is also obsessed with balloons. We have one balloon still (barely) hanging on from his birthday party, but I can't bring myself to take it down.
One morning I woke up (feeling mighty refreshed) and realized Brysen didn't wake up at all the night before. Not one single time. I wasn't expecting this to become an every night thing, because he's always woke up for (at least) one middle-of-the-night feeding, but apparently turning one means always sleeping through the night. I don't think he's woke up for a feeding since his birthday. This makes me happy and sad at the same time.
Brysen can now say: mama, dada, beba (Bella), ball, buuud (bird), ba-looooo (balloon), huuuuuuuh (hello), buh (bye), and even tate-you (thank you) when he feels like it. He will say ball, bird, and balloon as soon as he sees one. Every time. And he says hello whenever there is a phone in his reach. He likes to put the phone up to his ear backwards- I haven't figured that one out yet. He understands quite a bit, too. He knows: look, stop, no, come here, stay there, put it back, wave bye bye, and others that my mommy brain is having a hard time remembering. :)
He's walking more and more now days, but he prefers to crawl when he's given the option. He is still loving his walker, too! I think he knows he can get places faster without walking independently, and since he's always so busy, he'd rather go with the faster option.
I can't believe how fast this first year has come and gone. The first month or two went by at a pretty steady pace. I remember actually being able to enjoy the weeks between posting his monthly updates. But, after about three months, I felt like we were celebrating a 'monthday' every other day. Now, here we are, saying goodbye to those days. Here's to year number two!
